Chiropractor
Duties and Responsibilities: Perform a series of manual adjustments to the spine, or other articulations of the body, in order to correct the musculoskeletal system. Evaluate the functioning of the neuromuscular skeletal system and the spine using systems of chiropractic diagnosis. Diagnose health problems by reviewing patients' health and medical histories; questioning, observing and examining patients; and interpreting x-rays.) Maintain accurate case histories of patients. Advise patients about recommended courses of treatment. Obtain and record patients' medical histories.
Salary: $134,190
Education: The typical applicant at a chiropractic college has already acquired nearly four years of pre-medical undergraduate college education, including courses in biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, psychology and related lab work. Once accepted into an accredited chiropractic college, the requirements become even more demanding — four to five academic years of professional study are the standard. Because of the hands-on nature of chiropractic, and the intricate adjusting techniques, a significant portion of time is spent in clinical training.
