Duties
and responsibilities: Clinical managers perform administrative and
medical tasks to make sure their organization is operating smoothly. The
clinical manager supervises and delegates tasks to a variety of clinical,
administrative, professional and clerical staff members. He manages the
everyday management activities and creates and employs policies and procedures.
He also oversees the recruitment, professional development and evaluation of staff
members. Clinical managers are responsible for creating and maintaining budgets
and handling decisions regarding purchasing supplies. Some clinical managers
also handle communications for the facilities and attend public meetings.
Salary: $88,580
Education:
Depending on the size of the workplace and the exact demands of the position,
employers' education requirements for clinical managers will vary. Generally,
you'll need to have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a field like medical
services administration or health care administration. Coursework in a relevant
4-year, bachelor degree program includes courses on health care law and ethics,
health care financial management, organization and management in health care,
information systems for health care, health care administration, and case
management.
